the two katakana words i found are ニャーニャー and ブーブー. these are the special words to describe animal sounds. ニャーニャーdescribes the sounds of cats(meow) and ブーブーdescribes the sounds of pigs (oink).
there are three kinds of letters used to write Japanese: hiragana, katakana, and kanji. katakana are used mainly for words introduced from other languages, names of foreign people and places, sounds and cries of animals. the words i chose are the examples of katakana used for onomatopoeia (animal sounds).
i think it is to make them stand out in the texts.
3) Think about why each textbook is different in explaining katakana, and why the textbooks explained katakana in the manners that they did.
based on the two texts we read together in class, i believe there isn't any significant difference in their ways of explaining katakana.
